BAILOUT at the OBE

With Greece in turmoil, it was important for the LISA members to meet at the Old Bank of England to discuss the recent developments, and how our international community of experts feel about the situation.

Particularly pertinent to the discussion, privatization, restructuring, and most importantly, automation, which is a key driver of efficiency in any institution.

Florian Allwein  had some views on organisational change, and the importance of agility within the organisation. His research at the LSE would have certainly been something for Mr. Tsipras to take note of.

Kassim Gaffar‘s view was that reform in government institutions needs good CRM systems, that are tailored to charities and non-profits that really understand the problems they face, and the complexity of the public sector. Techrun would be ideal. Arseni Gladkov, from where he was standing (very tall) mentioned that it is important that the young generation of Greeks need to use this opportunity where the economy is in rebuild mode, to return to university and re-train. He believes it has become easier for students to be able to manage information and workloads, an idea he firmly believed in when he founded ACSUMM.

Kassim and Arseni talking about ACSUMM and TechRun

Myself and Tinesh Babu, had very strong views around the importance of financial data gathering, and understanding economic indicators. Notably the importance of the PMI index issued by Markit. Just the fact that we both worked for Markit and that Markit was an LSE Patron, of course had nothing to do with it. Michael, President and CEO of Nerd Force , was advocating the importance of solid IT infrastructure to penetrate the small and medium businesses space that constitutes a large part of the Greek economy.

Rushi Lala, consultant extraordinaire at PWC was advocating simple management structures. At PWC its a very flat structure that operates quite efficiently. Efficiency is certainly something Greece needs, and he believes he can fix the broken system. His team at PWC are the only people for the job. Tsipras’ woes will soon be over.

Tinesh, Charles and Rushi discussing flat management structures

Part coincidence part intention, Nicholas Hopper, also future member of the LISA basketball team (Scott at Power Forward, Arseni as Centre, Nicholas as Shooting guard…) , was the one taking the picture, and he believed that in Greece, a country built on small independent businesses, needs simple and effective tools to drive marketing and sales via the web. But with so much out there they need Crozdesk to help them navigate through to find the best tools for them.

Scott Gammon and Saurabh Mishra where there to understand the UK job market, but had no interest in moving to Greece.

Saurabh is an Ale person.

Fivos Lykos, LISA’s Greece delegate, collated all the feedback and will personally speak to Mr. Tsipras about what the LISA community has to offer.
